Job summary

EDP Renewables North America is seeking an on-site Solar Field Equipment Technician in Bakersfield, CA. You will maintain solar field equipment, perform inspections, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Travel to Mojave and Lucerne Valley areas as needed, with overtime and on-call requirements. The role requires 2–5 years of relevant experience, strong technical skills, and a focus on safety and quality in solar operations.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of college or technical school education or equivalent training/experience.
• 2–5 years relevant experience in solar energy or related industry; renewable energy experience is a plus.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, SQL Server, facility management and reporting systems, and diagnostic/troubleshooting tools.
• Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment and heavy equipment including crane and rigging.
• Experience with power plant operations and maintenance, solar plant operations (power inverters), high-voltage switching, and post-operational repair.
• Understanding of Microsoft products and related tools.
• Analytical problem solving, strong communication, and customer/partner relationships are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of solar field equipment and related plant components.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and communicate or implement improvements.
• Read schematics to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues with trackers and PV components.
• Repair/replace mechanical and electrical parts per manufacturers' requirements.
• Gather information on solar performance issues and propose solutions.
• Coordinate with EDPR Remote Operations Control Center as needed.
• Perform QA/QC inspections per SOP and document work in SAP.
• Supervise contractors on site to ensure policy compliance.
