Job summary

Cinterra in Virginia is seeking an Equipment Operator CDL Truck Driver to operate construction equipment used in solar installation projects. The role emphasizes safety and adherence to procedures while maintaining equipment, materials, and sites.

You will work with foremen and crew to move, operate, and report on daily activities, travel to multiple job sites, and support the installation teams with a strong commitment to learning and safety. A valid CDL and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 0–2 years operating heavy equipment or similar machinery.
• Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA regulations (preferred); willingness to undergo OSHA training and certifications.
• Licensing: Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Work Hours: Willingness to work long and/or extended hours, including weekends; ability to travel to various job sites.
• Basic Equipment Knowledge: Developing working knowledge of equipment with focus on learning.
• Coordination: Develop coordinated hand/foot movements to safely guide machinery.
• Teamwork: Collaborative work style with a focus on learning and completing tasks.
• Adaptability: Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Safety First: Uphold safety as a core value and support the safety program.
• Basic Equipment Operation: Operate dozers, backhoes, loaders, and other equipment under supervision.
• Utility Spotting: Assist in spotting utilities to avoid damage.
• Safe Maneuvering: Maintain safe clearances around solar components.
• Site Maintenance: Keep spoils piles and sites in good condition per OSHA standards.
• Effective Communication: Communicate clearly with spotters and team members.
• Tool Usage: Use basic tools as needed.
• Equipment Reporting: Report equipment needing repair to the foreman promptly.
