Job summary

Cinterra in Virginia is seeking an Equipment Operator to run skid steers, bobcats, forklifts, and related equipment to support solar installation projects. Safety is emphasized, with adherence to all procedures and proper maintenance of gear and sites.

You will coordinate with foremen and teammates, perform basic equipment tasks, assist with site housekeeping, and help keep daily reports and documentation up to date.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 0-2 years of experience operating heavy equipment or similar machinery.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations; willingness to undergo OSHA training and certifications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work long hours, including weekends; ability to travel to job sites.
  • Developing knowledge of equipment being used with a focus on learning.

Responsibilities

  • Safety First: uphold safety as a core value and support the safety program.
  • Basic Equipment Operation: grade, excavate, backfill, and operate dozers, backhoes, loaders, and related gear.
  • Utility Spotting: assist in spotting utilities to avoid damage.
  • Safe Maneuvering: operate around solar components with safe clearances.
  • Site Maintenance: manage spoil piles per OSHA and site rules.
  • Effective Communication: coordinate with spotters and team members.
  • Tool Usage: use shovels, rakes, hammers, drills, and other basic tools as needed.
  • Equipment Reporting: report repairs to the foreman promptly.
  • Daily Reporting: assist foreman with daily reports and documentation.
