Job summary

ACT Power Services in Wilson, NC is seeking a Solar Maintenance Technician to join our field team. This entry-level role focuses on safe, productive maintenance and learning a range of skills across PV plants.

You will assist with preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting to maximize production and ensure safety while gaining hands-on experience. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, electrical testing, interpreting schematics, and maintaining site documentation.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electrical systems and components.
  • Proficiency in using power tools for repair tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge and experience operating under OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and 70B.
  • OSHA 10 General Industry certificate.
  • Must be able to travel and work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold a high level of safety standards in everything that you do.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities.
  • Willingness to learn the NEC code, electrical theory, and industry best practices.
  • DC and AC testing including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, and I-V curve tracing.
  • Interpret schematics to understand system layouts and connections.
  • Maintain a schedule for routine maintenance, service, trouble shooting and repair of equipment at solar facilities including trackers, inverters, transformers and disconnects.
  • Maintain company property such as vehicle, tools, meters and stock.
  • Maintain service reports, inspection documentation, safety paperwork, and spare parts inventory.
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting training to technicians and others as needed.
  • Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove hazards.
