Job summary

Otovo is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage, and generators. This role suits an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on work and delivering excellent customer service while promoting clean energy adoption.

The position requires NEC/AHJ knowledge, field diagnostics, and the ability to travel locally.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
4+ years of electrical experience.
Valid driver’s license with clean record.
Strong understanding of NEC, AHJ, and interconnection requirements.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed.
State-required electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments.
Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements.
Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment.
Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirements.
Respond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as needed.
Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendations.
Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites.
