Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer for the Western region (Indio, CA). You will perform warranty repairs, field commissioning, troubleshooting, and data analysis to optimize SMA inverters in customer sites.

The role requires travel within the Western region, residence near Indio, and the ability to work nonstandard hours as needed. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is strongly preferred, or equivalent experience in the renewables industry.
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
• Residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Indio, CA, or willingness to relocate.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assists with commissioning, troubleshoots, repairs, and analyzes SMA America's utility inverters in the field, via email, telephone, and site visits.
• Develops a detailed knowledge of SMA's utility inverter products, accessories, and third-party accessories.
• Maintains an accurate inventory count of spare parts provided by SMA.
• Works regularly with high voltage DC electricity, three phase power, and inverter software/firmware.
• Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction while striving to lower field service costs.
• Assists with, performs, and maintains maintenance activities on assigned sites per SMA maintenance manual.
• Other duties as assigned.
