Job summary

The Commercial Solar Technician role supports construction and maintenance by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on contracted PV systems, assisting with AC/DC wiring, device and PV module installation, and commissioning of new electrical and solar sites.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years on-the-job commercial solar service experience or equivalent
• Completion of BAT approved Apprenticeship Program or equivalent on-the-job electrical/solar service experience
• Experience troubleshooting electrical/electronic devices
• Experience in electrical installations in commercial/industrial environments
• Experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, and EV systems

Responsibilities

• Performs routine PV maintenance on contracted solar assets.
• Manages visual & mechanical inspections and repairs.
• Performs electrical testing including megger, insulation resistance, and PV curve trace.
• Manages inverter maintenance and PV maintenance.
• Documents PM visits with pictures and test results.
• Maintains EV charger repair and documents service visits.
• Performs service calls and emergency service calls.
• Communicates service jobs to service coordinator.
• Documents work with pictures and test results for client reports.
• Maintains equipment per manufacturer recommendations.
• Assists with commissioning and energization of electrical equipment and inverters.
• Oversees sub-contractors as needed.
