Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Minneapolis/St Paul seeks an Assistant Construction Manager to assist the Construction Project Manager on EPC solar projects, focusing on safety, quality, schedule and cost control. You will support field teams, subcontractors, and client interfaces throughout project execution.

You will help prepare RFPs, contract documents, risk reviews, and various plans, while ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in construction or related field; 3 years construction experience required.
• Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Analytical and problem solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment.
• Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or program management preferred.
• Basic understanding of GAAP.
• Must meet driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist PMs with safety, quality, schedule, cost control and contracts.
• Support client interface and field-based activities on EPC projects.
• Develop and implement Project Execution, QA, Safety, Subcontracting, Staffing, and Procurement Plans.
• Contribute to negotiation and execution of contracts and change orders.
• Develop project plan for site mobilization and support site managers.
• Coordinate permits, pre-qualification, and bid/procurement processes.
• Prepare RFPs and contract documents for subcontractor and client awards.
• Support implementation of project specifications, drawings and design changes.
• Execute contract administration including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change management.
• Support cost reporting, scheduling, WBS, project setup and closeout, progress tracking.
• Prepare project status reports and distribute meeting minutes.
• Support invoicing processes for prime/subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maintain project documentation and filing systems.
• Verify insurances, licenses, taxes, and securities per project requirements.
• Support safety, quality, progress and financial audits.
