Job summary

Standard Solar is seeking a Development Engineer to support early-stage site evaluation and design for commercial solar projects. You will perform calculations, PV design tasks (PV1s, PVsyst modeling), and due diligence to optimize project scoping.

You will collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Business Development to deliver engineering deliverables and evaluate technical options. A BS/MS in engineering and 2–5 years of solar PV experience are required; proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst,

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
  • 2–5 years engineering experience; minimum of one year of large-scale solar PV engineering experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of codes such as IBC, NEC is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Commercial Sales and Finance for technical proposals and customer presentations.
  • Coordinate with Commercial Sales to identify engineering deliverables for early-stage project development.
  • Serve as primary engineering contact interfacing with Business Development.
  • Perform preliminary design of early-stage projects including PV1s and energy production modeling.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, statistics, and early-stage designs.
  • Review 3rd party engineering documentation to create due diligence reports.
  • Conduct site evaluations for targeted projects and pre-engineering support to Sales, Finance and Construction.
