Job summary

PanelClaw, Inc. is seeking a Solar Designer to craft mounting system layouts and prepare drawings for permitting and installation. You will work with sales, engineering, and officials to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

Two to five years of related experience plus AutoCAD proficiency is required; PV design software familiarity is a plus. This hybrid role bases two days a week at our North Andover, MA office, offering competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Two to five years related experience and/or training or bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience with AutoCAD required; familiarity with PVsyst, Helioscope, or other relevant design software a plus.
• Demonstrate empathy, resourcefulness, and drive.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Very high accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Generate client-ready technical solar array drawings for commercial flat roofs.
• Generate a variety of technical project documents, including wind loading and force analyses.
• Maintain expert technical knowledge of PanelClaw products and competitor products.
• Manage and continuously improve internal Excel and AutoCAD design tools, templates, and processes.
• Review internal and external design documents, providing feedback on design concepts, code compliance, and other factors to ensure a complete and accurate design package.
• Interact directly with customers and sales regarding all technical needs related to PanelClaw's products, providing support throughout the entire permitting and installation process.
• Identify and troubleshoot problems that arise in the field.
• Communicate with customers daily to research, troubleshoot, and assist users within clawOS, PanelClaw’s cloud-based solar design and project management platform.
• Collaborate with Technical Design, clawOS team members, and other functional teams to ensure user requests are handled in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of local and regional utility and AHJ standards, processes, and requirements is preferred.
