Construction Manager, Melink Solar


Job Summary:

Melink Solar, a leading commercial solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company specializing in designing and building solar arrays, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Construction Manager to join our growing team. Our Construction Managers oversee and coordinate various aspects of construction projects from start to finish, ensuring schedules, budgets, customer, and Melink Solar requirements are followed. This position reports to the Melink Solar Director of Operations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage all sub-contractors for timely completion, quality, ensuring projects are built according to plans, specifications, schedule, and budget.
  • Direct and supervise field personnel with daily schedules, including managing people, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Read, interpret, and understand all project documentation such as insurance, permitting, project scheduling, QA/QC requirements, blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and assembly instructions.
  • Document delays/changes; complete daily RFIs.
  • Maintain and monitor quality standards.
  • Perform mathematical computations for load calculations.
  • Coordinate meetings or contact permitting, building, public works, fire, and police officials as required.
  • Assist in field installations when required.
  • Up to 75-100% travel required (regional and national).

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Make quick, informed decisions, work well under pressure, and handle unexpected delays or occurrences.
  • Effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and construction drawings.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2+ years in a related position.
  • Experience in electrical underground conduit and terminations.
  • Strong leadership skills required.
  • Experience working on 1MW+ Solar Projects.
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-perform work.
  • High professionalism and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational, follow-through, interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Highly focused, organized, motivated, and passionate individual.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes (AC and DC), occupational hazards related to electrical work, and compliance with safety policies, OSHA, and MSHA standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all jobsite areas in all weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards.
