The Operations team seeks a seasoned Solar Technician Level II with utility-scale solar field and substation experience. This role is crucial in ensuring AES CE exceeds industry standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of building, training, and leading field personnel. As AES CE grows, this position offers significant professional growth opportunities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Manage operations and maintenance activities at solar sites related to utility-scale projects.
  2. Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on equipment like inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, and electrical systems.
  3. Conduct routine electrical troubleshooting, calibration, and repairs as assigned.
  4. Prepare and execute switching and clearance orders.
  5. Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
  6. Participate in training sessions.
  7. Handle technical and administrative duties for power facility operation and maintenance.
  8. Assist with vegetation mitigation, including operating tractors and mowers.
  9. Write and review Plant Orders, Procedures, and Operating Instructions.
  10. Ensure compliance with Environmental and Safety standards.
  11. Work independently or in teams to perform duties.
Desired Skills, Expertise, and Competencies:
  • Promote safety standards and help improve safety practices.
  • Troubleshoot DC & AC circuits and PR Array Ground Faults.
  • Qualified for routine and emergency operations at solar generation facilities.
  • Experience with electrical/construction projects and basic IT equipment.
  • Knowledge of substation equipment and operations.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented with analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in technical research, equipment, and engineering.
  • Hands-on technical skills and computer proficiency.
  • Fluent in English reading and writing.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proactive problem solver and committed to professional growth.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and communicate openly.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and decorum.
Education / Experience:
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications.
  • At least 3 years as a PV O&M solar technician.
  • Minimum 5 years in a power plant, with 1+ years in PV Solar O&M or construction.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical fundamentals and control circuits.
  • Understanding of operational characteristics of power equipment.
Working Conditions:
  • Outdoor work at solar power plants.
  • Ability to work at heights, in various temperatures, and humid conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, and enter equipment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment.
  • Potential exposure to rotating, energized equipment, and hazardous materials.
  • Occasional lifting and non-standard hours including travel.
