Job summary

Otovo is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our renewable energy team in Torrance, CA. You will service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators.

This role suits an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on work, solving complex problems, and delivering excellent customer service while supporting clean energy adoption in the South Bay area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of electrical experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong understanding of NEC, AHJ, and utility interconnection requirements.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Climb ladders and work on rooftops.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments.
• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirements.
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as needed.
• Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendations.
• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites.
