Job summary

Otovo is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to service and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators in Oakland, CA and the greater Bay Area.

You will diagnose faults, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure NEC/AHJ compliance while delivering exceptional customer service at each site. A strong electrical background and willingness to travel locally are required for this full-time role with benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires electrical experience and ability to read schematics or technical drawings.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for homeowners and clients.
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed.
• State-required electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments.
• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring NEC/AHJ and utility compliance.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage and lockout/tagout processes.
