Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Soils Laboratory Technician to join our Roanoke team. No prior experience is required; you will learn under experienced professionals while performing tests on soil and construction materials in concrete and soils laboratories.

Training is provided, and certification fees are paid. We offer growth opportunities as you earn certifications, with a starting pay rate of $17.50/hour for this role at the Roanoke location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain lab certifications applicable to the lab work performed.
• Strong communication and basic math skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory tests on soil and construction material samples under supervision.
• Assist with sample preparation and testing procedures.
• Compile test results, data input and data processing; assist with admin duties.
• Learn soils lab testing including Atterberg limits, Gradation analyses, Swell testing, Moisture content, Visual classifications, Unconfined strength testing, Proctor testing.
• Maintain a clean and organized lab environment; support calibration and maintenance of equipment; maintain calibration records.
