Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Soils Laboratory Technician to join our Birmingham team. No experience is required as you learn under supervision and earn certifications while performing basic soil and construction material testing in our labs.

You will assist in sample preparation, tests such as Atterberg limits, gradation, moisture, and proctor, and help maintain QA/QC records. Paid training and certification fees are provided to support growth.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required with ability to obtain lab certifications.
Strong communication and basic math skills are essential.
Attention to detail and accurate data recording are critical.
Dependable, self-motivated and able to follow directions under supervision.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Performs basic laboratory tests on soil and construction material samples under supervision.
Assists with sample preparation and testing procedures.
Compiles test results, inputs data, and processes information.
Conducts soils tests (Atterberg limits, gradation, swell, moisture, proctor).
Maintains a clean, organized laboratory and supports equipment calibration.
Keeps calibration records and notifies about damaged or missing equipment.
Assists with additional lab functions and occasional fieldwork as needed.
