Job summary

ECS Group of Companies, Austin, TX, is hiring a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Soils Laboratory Technician to join our team. You will learn to safely perform a variety of tests in our concrete and soils laboratories under the guidance of experienced professionals.

No prior experience is required; paid training and certification support are provided as you progress. This entry-level role offers hands-on learning, growth opportunities, and a path into QA/QC in a busy, compliant lab

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Obtain lab certifications as per policy, for soils and concrete labs.
Valid driver's license required if driving for ECS.
Strong communication and basic math skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks under supervision.
Willingness to learn in a supervised environment.

Responsibilities

Performs basic laboratory tests on soil and construction material samples under supervision
Assists with sample preparation and testing procedures
Compiles test results, inputs data, and supports documentation
Performs soils testing (Atterberg limits, gradation, swell, moisture, proctor testing)
Maintains a clean, organized laboratory environment
Supports calibration and maintenance of equipment
Maintains QA/QC calibration records and documentation
Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
Performs additional lab tasks and occasional fieldwork as needed
