Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned Facilities Engineer to drive robotics and automation projects at Newport News Shipbuilding. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide electrical, mechanical, and controls oversight, and manage field execution and contractor interfaces to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 0 years experience with Bachelors or 4 years with HS diploma in related field.
• Experience developing GUIs, HMIs, or operator interfaces.
• Ability to read design engineering drawings and analyses.

Responsibilities

• Support Facilities Engineering in robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing equipment projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through all PM phases.
• Provide engineering oversight for electrical, mechanical, controls, and structural disciplines.
• Provide field engineering, technical assessments, and contractor management during construction.
• Support manufacturing process engineering and technology development.
• Control project costs and schedules and ensure on-time delivery.
• Support Newport News Shipbuilding facilities operations.

• Support Facilities Engineering in developing and executing projects focused on robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing technology equipment


• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through development and implementation of manufacturing facility projects across all project management phases


• Provide engineering oversight for electrical, mechanical, electromechanical controls, and/or structural design disciplines


• Provide field engineering, field technical assessments, and contractor management during construction


• Provide manufacturing process engineering and technology development


• Control project costs and schedules


• Support Facilities Engineering operations at Newport News Shipbuilding

Requirements

• 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience


• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering from an ABET accredited program


• Experience developing custom GUIs, HMIs, or other operator interfaces


• Experience analysing design engineering requirements documents and electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings


• Strong project management, scheduling, and organizational skills


• Strong leadership and communication skills


• Strong computer skills, including Windows and MS Office Suite


• Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams


• Ability to address technical, quality, and business aspects of a project


• Ability to complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget


• Ability to learn independently through research and experimentation


• Must be a U.S. Citizen


• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
