Zap Surgical Systems is a surgical robotics start-up located in San Carlos, CA. Leveraging its unique gyroscopic motion and self-shielded design, our product, the ZAP-X®, is disrupting the industry and opening new frontiers in modern radiosurgery. Zap’s employees thrive in an environment where multiple fields of study come together to solve challenging and important problems. You will be joining a diverse, cross-functional team that is bringing to market the most advanced stereotactic radiotherapy technology.
The Software Escalation Engineer (C++/C#), serves as the bridge between the field and product development, combining technical investigation, software development, and cross-functional collaboration. A typical day may involve investigating and reproducing a software issue reported from a clinical site, developing diagnostic or service tools, implementing software improvements, or partnering with engineering teams to bring new capabilities into the ZAP-X System. This engineer supports four technology areas: the control-system stack (C#, C++, Structured Text, and TwinCAT), the planning-platform stack (C++ and TypeScript), patient management (DICOM, JSON, and PostgreSQL), and the networking and cybersecurity layer (TCP/IP, REST, gRPC, and HIPAA/GDPR compliance). The engineer delivers solutions to ZAP Surgical's clinical sites worldwide: the US, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The position is ideally based in San Carlos, California, but ZAP will consider outstanding candidates from the EU.
