Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in Mounds View, MN to lead the device manager verification group within the Patient Care Systems (PCS) Software team. You will drive credible execution plans balancing delivery, quality, and risk while developing a high‑performing engineering organization.

You will collaborate with PCS Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity and other teams to deliver patient-centered healthcare solutions with a strong emphasis on governance,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related technical discipline; minimum of 5 years technical work experience OR advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, or math with 3 years technical and 3 years managerial experience.
• Nice to have Med‑Tech experience.
• Experience as a software developer or technical software leader.
• Ability to manage geographically distributed software development teams.
• Familiarity with design controls, standards and quality system regulations.
• Experience with CAPA processes.
• Energetic communication, leadership, documentation, and interpersonal skills for varied audiences and stakeholders.
• Business acumen: patient-first perspective.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Smartsync device manager software verification organization including engineers, contractors and vendors.
• Own a credible engineering execution plan balancing priorities, capacity, dependencies, risk, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all engineering work (product development, tests, verification & validation, sustainment, cybersecurity, quality remediation, technical debt, innovation) is visible and well managed.
• Partner with PCS Product Management, Program Management, Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity and cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes.
• Lead, coach and develop high-performing engineering teams and grow technical leaders.
• Oversee verification and validation strategy across the product lifecycle.
• Ensure verification provides evidence that product requirements are met and validation confirms intended use and user needs.
• Develop and maintain scalable test frameworks, environments, tools, and infrastructure.
