Job summary

RTX is seeking students for internships/co-ops in Rockford, IL, onsite. You will participate in full life-cycle development of electric power distribution systems, using C and ensuring DO-178B/C compliance.

This role emphasizes teamwork, documentation, and learning through hands-on projects with aerospace relevance. Applicants should be enrolled in STEM programs with at least 60 earned credits and a readiness to engage in a structured development process while collaborating with remote team

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

What You Will Do

Work in a team environment, sometimes including remote team members, engaging in full life-cycle development (plan, requirements, design, verify, certify/qualify) of electric power distribution systems, typically done in C, and certifying to aerospace standards (DO178B/C is typical, Design Assurance Levels A to C)

What You Will Learn

• Software development processes including DO-178
• Respect for, and compatibility with, a structured development process where well-documented requirements, designs, and test procedures
• Knowledge of Collins secondary distribution products
