Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a top-notch software engineer to join our team in Hanover, MD. We tackle challenging national defense problems by leveraging cutting-edge technologies across information retrieval, distributed computing, and large-scale systems, while exploring AI, NLP, and UI design to drive decision making.

You will work on versatile problems, demonstrate leadership, and tackle new challenges as technology advances.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years experience as a software engineer is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, JavaScript, Python, Scala, Ruby and Go.
• Experience with IDEs such as Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, Visual Studio and VS Code.
• Experience with operating systems such as Windows, Unix, Linux and macOS.
• Experience with team collaboration and issue tracking tools such as Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence), GitHub and ServiceNow.
• Experience with software frameworks such as Spring, Angular and Bootstrap.
• Experience with databases such as Oracle, MySQL and MongoDB.
• Experience with build tools such as Maven and Jenkins.
• Experience with containers and container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Git, SVN and CVS.
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
• Works individually or as part of a team.
• Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
• Resolves software problem reports.
• Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
