Job summary

Amazon in New York seeks fungible software development engineers for the Ads, LEO, Devices, and Entertainment Teams. You will design and build highly available cloud services in Java, operating Tier-1 systems at scale, and tackle complex distributed challenges.

You will work with cross-functional teams, apply generative AI to accelerate delivery and code quality, and contribute to operational excellence with on-call, monitoring, and continuous improvement across environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using languages such as C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, scalable cloud services in Java
• Build and operate Tier-1 services at massive scale
• Solve novel and complex distributed systems challenges — from low-latency communication to fault-tolerant architectures
• Leverage generative AI extensively in your day-to-day development workflow to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across Amazon to define technical direction and deliver customer-facing features
• Contribute to a culture of operational excellence, including on-call support, monitoring, and continuous improvement
