Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in East Palo Alto, CA is hiring a Software Development Engineer for the Redshift query optimizer team. You will own end-to-end features, design architectures, and deliver high-performance systems for global data workloads.

You will mentor engineers, guide projects from design through deployment, and collaborate with product, data engineering, and operations to optimize execution plans at scale in a fast-moving cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Build systems that benefit Redshift clusters across the world.
• Take significant ownership on the overall product vision by defining new features and architecture.
• Own and code end-to-end deliverables from design, development, deployment, monitoring, and operations.
