Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking senior database engineers to join the Redshift team in East Palo Alto. You will work on a fast, fully managed data warehouse service that enables petabyte-scale analytics using standard SQL.

You will lead data architecture discussions with customers, optimize queries, and drive performance benchmarking across large datasets. Collaborate with engineering to build a scalable, reliable cloud product and help customers design best-fit usage patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field or equivalent.
• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets
• Knowledge of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
• Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of database or data warehouse systems internals including relational database design and distributed databases/MPP architectures
• Lead strategic data architecture & database design discussions with customers
• Drive and oversee workload analysis, performance benchmarking and troubleshooting efforts with customers in their environments
• Clearly communicate deep technical topics to customers
• Influence the engineering team roadmap towards building a product that is scalable, easy to use and build on, and addresses customer needs
• Conduct POC’s with customers in competitive situations
• Leverage good coding/scripting skills to automate tasks and improve workload analysis mechanisms
