Job summary

Prophasys, LLC is seeking a senior software/system engineer in Maryland to join a defense-centric team. Candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and a bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field.

The role spans from mid-level to SME with Go, TypeScript frontends, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud technologies. You will build scalable microservices, implement CI/CD, and ensure secure, observable systems using Kafka, NiFi, and Rancher in AWS environments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field.
• 7–14 years for mid-level to SME levels; varies by position.
• Strong Go, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, RESTful APIs, and microservices skills.
• Deep Kubernetes, Helm, GitOps (ArgoCD); Docker and cloud experience.
• Experience with Kafka, NiFi, MinIO, Rancher, and AWS.
• Familiarity with IaC (Terraform, cloud-init) and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Hardware and software integration, infrastructure provisioning and automation.
• Develop production services using Go and frontends with TypeScript/HTML/CSS.
• Design RESTful services and microservices architectures.
• Work in CI/CD, observability (Prometheus, Grafana), and GitOps workflows.
• Operate containerized environments with Kubernetes (RKE2 or similar).
• Collaborate in an Agile team and participate in documentation updates.

Job description

Full Time, 40 hours per week

Education Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Positions that may be available range from mid-level (7-14 years) to subject matter expert level (20+ years).

• Hardware and software integration, Infrastructure, provisioning, Ansible CM, Kubernetes, Cloud
  Technologies, Rancher, Containers as a service (Caas)


• Proficiency in Go (Golang), with practical experience developing production services.


• Experience building frontends using TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.


• Solid experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD).


• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka.


• Hands-on experience with container technologies like Docker, and orchestration via RKE2 or similar.


• Strong understanding of system design, RESTful APIs, and microservices.


• Familiarity with SQL databases and integration in containerized environments.


• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.


• Familiar with Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Bamboo, Fisheye).


• Experience with Agile development

• LINUX or UNIX administration/maintenance experience knowledge of SIGINT systems and dataflows


• Ability to perform in a team environment.


• Experience with Kafka, NiFi, MetalLB, and MinIO in production environments.


• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation using cloud-init or Terraform.


• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.


• Background in observability (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar).


• Experience with Rancher Suite (Harvester, Longhorn, KubeVirt).


• Prior work with AWS (EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS) or other cloud platforms.


• Maintain and improve documentation and internal development standards

Compensation & Benefits - We offer a highly competitive salary along with a full benefits package, including paid time off,

and more. This position is eligible for our year end discretionary bonus plan, as well as recognition awards. The competitive
salary range* is $150,000 to $230,000 (annualized USD).
