The ideal candidate will have experience in recommendation, classification, and optimization problems, with the ability to manage the entire ML lifecycle, define project scope, and promote excellence across teams. You will collaborate with top engineers and researchers to solve complex social data and prediction challenges.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction and goals for a sizable team regarding project impact, ML system design, and best practices.
• Adapt machine learning methods for modern parallel computing environments, including distributed clusters, multicore systems, and GPUs.
• Reassess existing features and ML systems, leading efforts to reduce technical debt and design from first principles when needed.
• Lead the development of ML best practices and influence engineering culture from a technical perspective.
• Address complex online and production performance issues, understanding system interactions deeply.
• Develop scalable classifiers and tools using machine learning, data regression, and rule-based models.
• Gather and synthesize requirements to create effective feature roadmaps.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver code and solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or a related field; 4+ years with a PhD.
• 6+ years in machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining, AI, or related areas.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Hack.
• Proven success leading major initiatives.
• Track record of building high-quality, reliable systems and deploying scalable ML models.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, or shell scripting.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and project ownership.
• Ability to analyze data, explain technical issues, and propose solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with large-scale software architecture.
• Familiarity with scripting frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Compensation & Benefits

$85.10/hour to $251,000/year + bonus, equity, and benefits.
