Job summary

Arcfield is seeking a software engineer in the Rome, NY area to research, design, develop, test, and deploy data processing software. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet user needs and performance goals while maintaining security standards.

The role emphasizes Java and C++ development, collaboration with hardware engineers, and experience with Linux, Gitlab, and container technologies. Remote work may be considered for qualified candidates near Rome, NY.

Qualifications

BS or MS with software development experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
Proficient in Java, C++, Shell scripting, XML, Gitlab, VMware, Eclipse, Linux.
Knowledge of OO principles and patterns.
Experience with software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers).
Familiar with the full software engineering lifecycle.
Knowledge of secure coding practices.
Experience with Kubernetes, Podman, Gitlab CI.

Responsibilities

Research in the design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software.
Design, develop, document, test and debug applications/software systems.
Collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers in planning and development of data processing systems.
Determine user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems; prepare operating instructions.
Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment to meet specifications.
