Onshore seeks a Software Engineer II for Corporate Tax & Compliance in New York City. You will help build a versioned tax calculation graph and e-file infrastructure, and enable accurate extraction of filed returns for amendments.

The role emphasizes rigor, spec-heavy work, and collaboration with a team moving from credit studies to filing. Base salary is substantial with equity and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years designing, shipping, and operating production software.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, SQL, and data modeling.
• Experience with correctness-critical software and invariants.
• Appetite for spec-heavy work and reading tax schemas.
• Clear, precise communication in writing and speaking.
• Able to work in person at our New York City office.

Responsibilities

• Build the versioned calculation graph: tax computation as data, with full lineage from source document to filed number.
• Ship e-file infrastructure: schema validation, transmission, acknowledgment handling, and the rejection remediation loop.
• Build structured extraction of as-filed returns accurate enough to amend against, and the workpapers that flag missed credits.
• Implement temporal law resolution: apply law as it stood for a given tax year, with citations.
• Design the preparer workflow: review and sign-off roles, diagnostics, and an audit trail.
• Write the evals for what you ship, with a hard deadline and no silent regressions.
