Job summary

BigCommerce is hiring a backend software engineer to build and maintain features powering our storefront services. You will work with product managers and partner teams to design solutions, add GraphQL Storefront API queries, and scale AI-driven shopping capabilities for shoppers and agents.

We value production experience with Scala or Kotlin, and candidates comfortable with HTTP, caching, distributed services, and CI/CD. This hybrid role requires three days in the Atlanta office.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building backend services in production.
• Production experience with Scala or Kotlin preferred; other languages welcome.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs and HTTP fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features powering every BigCommerce storefront.
• Extend GraphQL Storefront API queries and ensure backward compatibility.
• Evolve storefront service to support AI-driven shopping features.
• Investigate production issues and improve performance and reliability.
• Review code and pair with senior engineers.
