Job summary

ARUP Laboratories, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, seeks a Software Engineer II to contribute to production features and support deployments within the Biocomputing department. You will participate in a full software lifecycle, from design to testing and deployment, and collaborate with product managers to understand workflows.

Qualifications

• Understanding of how application features and functionality interact within a system.
• Knowledge of data modeling fundamentals.
• Foundational understanding of concurrency, distributed systems, optimization, security, and observability.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 3+ years of professional technical experience; or AA/AS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 4+ years of professional technical experience; or High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of professional technical experience.
• Preferred: Experience with FastAPI and designing REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and maintains production features that meet team quality standards.
• Takes ownership of assigned features end-to-end, making day-to-day implementation decisions independently.
• Applies design principles to decompose feature requests and build well-structured solutions.
• Independently leverages AI tools to automate routine development work and boost productivity.
• Maintains and troubleshoots CI/CD pipeline configurations for the team's applications.
