Job summary

Chewy is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and extend pet-parent oriented features. You will work on a full stack with microservices, batch jobs, and UI components to solve real customer problems.

You’ll collaborate with product managers and engineers while contributing to scalable cloud-based systems. The role requires strong Java/Spring experience, CI/CD, and a passion for quality and learnings within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 4+ years with Java and Spring Webflux and/or Spring Boot.
• 4+ years building, deploying, testing APIs and microservices.
• 2+ years with PostgreSQL or SQL databases.
• 2+ years in system design.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar).
• Experience with Playwright or similar automation testing tools.
• Experience with AWS cloud and Terraform.
• Strong data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with high-performing, scalable systems.
• Ability to break down product requirements into tasks.
• Experience monitoring production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable solutions with focus on latency and resiliency.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate requirements into features.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and participate in reviews.
• Contribute to service and data architecture, DevOps practices, and IaC.
• Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders throughout the cycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and model strong engineering practices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and on-call rotations as needed.
