Job summary

Chewy is seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to join the Chewy+ Loyalty team. You will design and build customer-facing experiences across React-based UI, component libraries, and API integrations to shape the Chewy+ member journey.

You will work with frontend tooling, testing, observability, and production support, while collaborating with backend teams on API contracts and data flows. The role emphasizes ownership and scalability.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of frontend development experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience building customer-facing web apps with reusable React/TypeScript components.
• Experience integrating with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Ability to reason about API contracts, data models, latency, and reliability in frontend design.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and browser fundamentals.
• Experience delivering high-performing, scalable user experiences.
• Ability to translate product requirements into technical tasks.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable, resilient frontend solutions.
• Build and evolve reusable React/TypeScript components that align with Chewy’s design system.
• Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs and generated clients.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on API design and data flow.
• Participate in architecture and code reviews to ensure quality.
• Contribute to testing strategies, observability, and deployment pipelines.
• Follow accessibility, security, and coding standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and production support.
• Mentor junior engineers in technical design and reviews.
