Job summary

Vast is seeking a Software Engineer II, Enterprise Applications in Long Beach, CA to design, develop, and maintain web applications and backend services that underpin space station software infrastructure.

You will work with frontend and backend technologies, participate in full software lifecycle, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions in a fast-paced aerospace context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, an engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of software development or relevant industry experience.
• Experience designing, building, shipping, and supporting software applications in production.
• Experience contributing to full-stack applications, including frontend and/or backend development.
• Familiarity with testing, version control, code review, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using modern frontend technologies and API-driven backend services.
• Contribute to backend services, data modeling, APIs, and supporting data pipelines.
• Build, ship, and support features throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Improve tooling and support new applications as the company grows.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and resolve defects, performance issues, and incidents.
• Learn and apply scalable software patterns for a growing codebase.
