Job summary

Vast seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer II in Long Beach to support the development of systems for the design and build of space-rated test hardware. You will work on a data acquisition and controls stack, creating software tools and setting standards for test assets and practices.

You will design and own complex control systems, collaborating with software, thermal, mechanical, and test teams to ensure robust testing and rapid issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of applied experience with programmable logic controllers or similar embedded systems.
• Working knowledge of supporting engineering skills (Wire Harnessing, electrical diagrams, signal processing).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a data acquisition and controls stack for Long Beach site test teams.
• Design, implement and own complex control systems for testing space-rated hardware, including hardware and software components.
• Collaborate across disciplines to drive robust testing, gather upgrade requests, and define new test stack capabilities.
• Troubleshoot and debug test assets to resolve issues and optimize test system performance.
