Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer II for AWS ECS in Seattle, WA. You will design, develop, and operate highly available distributed systems for container networking and service mesh infrastructure, including Envoy-based control planes and service discovery with Cloud Map.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to automate load balancer provisioning, TLS certificates, and traffic routing, while driving operational excellence and scalable architecture across the stack.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture of large-scale systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of developing large-scale distributed software applications and services.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS/Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate highly available, scalable distributed systems for container networking and service mesh infrastructure.
• Build and extend the Envoy Management Server (xDS) control plane for east-west traffic.
• Design and build ELB orchestration systems for Service Gateway to optimize north-south ingress traffic.
• Develop and scale Cloud Map as the central service registry and discovery mechanism.
• Design and implement APIs for ingress traffic management, service-to-service communication, and service discovery.
• Drive operational excellence through on-call, investigations, and production health.
