Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is hiring a Software Engineer for the EC2 Networking team to re‑engineer our virtual networking control plane and manage millions of VPC configurations.

You will design, implement, and test high‑performance cloud services that power AWS infrastructure, collaborating with product managers and senior engineers to meet business goals while maintaining quality, security, and scalability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud services powering AWS infrastructure
• Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Write high-quality, efficient code while adhering to AWS's architectural best practices
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across AWS services
• Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and performance
• Contribute to on-call rotations to support production systems
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
• Document system designs, APIs, and operational procedures
• Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
