Job summary

Imprivata, a leader in healthcare security and access management, seeks a Software Engineer II for a hybrid role based in Waltham, MA. You will build features across the stack, from backend services to modern React interfaces, and deploy secure, scalable cloud-native applications.

You’ll design and maintain APIs with Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and AWS, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building modern web apps with React.
• Designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience in AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized apps.
• Experience with distributed systems or event-driven architectures (Kafka a plus).
• Git, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features across backend services, APIs, and React UIs.
• Design, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-native apps with observability.
• Own features from design through production, collaborating closely with teammates.
• Improve pipelines and diagnose build/test/deploy issues in CI/CD environments.
• Collaborate with Product Management and cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into solutions.
• Leverage AI tools to boost productivity while applying engineering judgment.
