Job summary

Sophos is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to support, maintain, and incrementally improve automation, tooling, and release processes that help Sophos engineering teams deliver cloud-based services safely and consistently. This hands-on role collaborates with software engineers, platform engineers, QA, security, and release stakeholders to support CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, release engineering, or related role.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and scripting abilities.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes-based deployments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Support CI/CD pipelines and release automation for SaaS applications and containerized workloads.
• Support developer and release tooling such as GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, and related CI/CD systems.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot application builds across development, QA, and production environments.
• Assist with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS-based deployments, health checks, and configuration updates.
• Use Terraform to provision cloud infrastructure in a repeatable way.
• Write automation scripts in Groovy, Python, and Bash.
• Collaborate with development teams to understand build and deployment needs and improve automation.
• Troubleshoot build, deployment, and environment issues across logs and cloud services.
• Support secure DevSecOps practices and tooling integrations.
• Leverage AI tools for scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation while maintaining security and accuracy.
• Communicate environment state, release status, risks, and next steps.
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
