Job summary

Sophos, a cybersecurity leader, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Security features team. You will design, implement, and ship features in TypeScript across React frontends and backend services, and own end-to-end delivery with mentorship from senior engineers.

You'll work in a fast-paced engineering culture, participate in on-call rotations, and help raise quality and developer experience. This role emphasizes ownership, curiosity, and a drive to grow into senior technical leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years front-end experience with React and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and building backend services and APIs.
• Strong CS fundamentals and debugging skills.
• Experience in AWS and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Ability to mentor and collaborate with other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, ship, and maintain features end-to-end in TypeScript across React frontends and backend services.
• Own delivery of project-level work with moderate guidance, from design through testing and deployment.
• Design and implement APIs that serve data at scale.
• Build and operate cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform).
• Serve as on-call first responder; triage and resolve production issues.
• Create test plans and contribute to automated testing (unit/integration/e2e).
• Review code and designs; provide constructive feedback to raise quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
• Improve developer experience through tooling and better test coverage.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery while growing technical depth.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UI designers, and Cyber Analysts to deliver security outcomes.
