About The Role

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Software Engineer II to join our team remotely from anywhere in the U.S. In this role, you will build, maintain, and optimize robust computational pipelines for processing clinical sequencing data using Python, Nextflow, and AWS technologies. Your work will contribute to delivering reliable, scalable solutions that adhere to the highest standards of clinical quality and performance. The salary range for this role is $111,000 - $145,000 per year, with eligibility for a Short-Term Incentive Plan (targeted at 7.5% of annual earnings, terms apply).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain bioinformatics data pipelines using Nextflow and Python
• Implement cloud-based solutions with AWS for efficient data processing
• Refactor pipelines for improved performance and scalability
• Apply software development best practices (version control, testing, documentation)
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently
• Design and develop new pipeline components and data analysis methods
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet clinical requirements
• Maintain code quality via code reviews and standards adherence
• Monitor and optimize pipeline performance
• Perform other related duties as assigned
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience
• Proficiency in Python and Linux environments
• Experience with Nextflow or similar workflow management systems
• Familiarity with Illumina sequencing data and NGS pipelines
• Experience with version control systems (Git)
• Ability to troubleshoot problems independently
• Experience with common bioinformatics data formats and tools
• Working knowledge of AWS cloud services
• Strong analytical, debugging, and collaboration skills

• Advanced degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or related field
• Experience with clinical genomics or regulated environments
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications
• CI/CD pipeline experience
• Experience working in cloud environments (especially AWS)
