Job description

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer II/Senior Software Engineer to join our technology team at Iambic Therapeutics. You will be a key player in applying advanced software engineering skills to build technologies that support our drug discovery efforts. Your key responsibilities include developing training data workflows for the training of machine-learning (ML) models, scalable deployment of machine-learning technologies, and the creation, testing, and maintenance of software systems. This role is remote, with a preference for candidates on the US East Coast or in the UK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work in a cross-functional team that spans the full domain of drug discovery.
2. Provide software development support to the ML model lifecycle, including designing and developing:
1. Efficient and maintainable data pipelines
2. Benchmarking systems of models
3. Deployments to AWS and use of Kubernetes (in collaboration with our cloud engineers)
3. Collaborate on the creation, testing, and maintenance of software systems.
4. Conduct code reviews for pull requests in related areas.
5. Maintain and mentor best practices in software development, including version control, testing, and documentation.
6. Collaborate with ML scientists and other team members to understand requirements for deployed models.
7. Communicate work clearly in meetings and demos, tailored to the audience.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
2. Technical skills to develop and maintain ML systems used by the team.
3. Experience with cloud-based ML systems processing large data volumes (TBs).
4. Strong Python programming skills.
5. Knowledge of Chemistry and Biology concepts.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with ML engineers.
7. Demonstrated competence and rigor in software development.
8. Experience with scientific computing/lab environments (e.g., SLURM).
9. Familiarity with cloud computing and ability to specify requirements for DevOps engineers.
