Job summary

RELX INC is seeking a Software Engineer II to help design, develop, test, and maintain applications for the Batch Portal. In an Agile setting, you’ll implement reliable, scalable software aligned with product requirements and engineering practices.

You will collaborate with engineers to translate requirements into code, apply unit tests, reviews, and documentation, and contribute to batch processing and data pipelines. Strong OO design and Java experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience developing production‑quality software using Java or similar.
• Working knowledge of OO design principles, data structures, and SDLC.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks, Git, and CI practices.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for system components of moderate complexity.
• Design, implement, and maintain batch processing components, scheduled jobs, and plugin extensions.
• Translate moderately complex product requirements into software designs and working code with teammates.
• Apply development best practices including unit testing, code reviews, and documentation.
• Complete moderately complex bug fixes and resolve issues through analysis and debugging.
• Work in an Agile environment with product management, QA, and operations.
• Stay current with technologies, tools, and patterns related to batch processing and data pipelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support delivery and operational excellence.
