Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to own end-to-end data lifecycle features for AI-powered business applications. You will work on secure data storage, model training platforms, and data access interfaces, collaborating with scientists and engineers to ensure scalable, compliant solutions.

You will refine existing services for performance, contribute to self-service platforms, and uphold strict privacy and security standards across all data handling stages.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 3+ years in design or architecture (reliability & scaling) for new and existing systems.
• Experience with SDLC including coding standards, reviews, and operations.
• Experience designing data storage, ETL pipelines, or ML infra for model training/evaluation.
• Proven track record building distributed systems with event-driven APIs.
• Experience with data security, privacy compliance, and retention/deletion.
• Working knowledge of AWS data processing & ML services such as S3 and SageMaker.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver complete software features for event-based data storage systems from design through deployment and operations.
• Maintain and refactor storage and analytics platforms to improve performance and scalability.
• Design data access interfaces and authorization systems within architecture guidelines.
• Mentor team members through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Resolve operational issues by identifying root causes and implementing permanent fixes for compliance features and data deletion APIs.
• Collaborate with business teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Implement security features including encryption, access controls, audit trails, and PII handling.
• Advance self-service platforms and control planes while balancing new features with governance.
