Job summary

Amazon’s Core Selection team within Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) is hiring a software engineer to redesign inventory selection decisions at global scale. You will design and build distributed services in Java or Scala, collaborating with data scientists, economists and product managers to apply Generative AI and drive financial benefits across teams and organizations.

You’ll own the full software lifecycle, participate in code reviews, and lead operational excellence initiatives

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience on new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and build large-scale distributed services for inventory selection decisions, writing high-quality code in Java or Scala while applying object-oriented principles and system design patterns
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, economists, and product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, utilizing Generative AI capabilities to accelerate development and expand engineering possibilities
• Own the full software development lifecycle from scoping and design through testing, deployment, and maintenance, actively participating in code reviews and providing meaningful technical feedback to team members
• Lead operational excellence initiatives by monitoring system performance, identifying root causes of issues, and implementing permanent solutions that improve reliability and customer experience
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs in the problem space, balance short-term needs with long-term architectural goals, and make informed decisions on feature development priorities while building trust with partners through domain expertise
