Job summary

Frost in Texas is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, build, test, and maintain banking software applications. You’ll collaborate with teams to deliver scalable solutions while applying best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.

You’ll contribute to cloud deployments, APIs, data pipelines, and microservices, with a focus on reliable, secure systems across the Frost technology stack. This role emphasizes integrity and excellence in delivering value to customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience identifying issues and delivering solutions.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable applications.
• Strong Python and/or Java programming with API development and microservices.
• Strong SQL/data engineering and data integration across systems.
• Experience with cloud deployments, CI/CD, and containerization.

Who you are:

As a Software Engineer II at Frost, you are our code guru, not only configuring the systems but understanding the why’s behind them. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, implementing, supporting, and documenting solutions for assigned applications across the organization. You welcome a challenge and want to provide next level experiences to every individual that uses our systems.

What you’ll do:

• Design, write, test, implement, and document solutions for assigned program modules
• Collaborate with project teams and other Software Engineers to provide technical support
• Support assigned IT systems/applications by troubleshooting and resolving defects
• Always take action using Integrity, Caring, and Excellence to achieve all-win outcomes

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, in a related field, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently identify program issues and develop the appropriate solution, typically requiring at least 2 years of experiencel>
• Strong software engineering experience, including the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable applications.
• Strong programming experience using Python and/or Java, including API development, microservices architecture, testing, debugging, code reviews, and implementation of best coding practices.
• Strong data engineering experience, including SQL development, data pipeline design, data quality management, and integration of data across multiple systems and platforms.
• Strong experience with cloud technologies and application deployment, including cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, monitoring, production support, and operational excellence

Additional Preferred Skills:

• Preferred experience leveraging AI-powered development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to accelerate software development activities including coding, unit testing, documentation, debugging, and code reviews. Demonstrated ability to validate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, performance, and maintainability
• Strong understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming
• Strong collaboration experience with a proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code, participate in technical reviews, uphold engineering standards, and support team growth through mentoring and constructive feedback
