Job summary

Frost is seeking a Software Engineer II in Texas to design, implement, test, and maintain scalable applications across the organization. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software and support IT systems, while embracing integrity and excellence.

The role requires strong Python/Java programming, data engineering, and cloud/CI/CD experience. Relocation assistance is offered, with occasional in-office days in San Antonio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of independent issue identification and solution development.
• Strong software engineering experience: design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable apps.
• Strong programming with Python and/or Java, including API development, microservices, testing, debugging, code reviews.
• Strong data engineering experience: SQL, data pipelines, data quality, data integration.
• Experience with cloud technologies, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, production support, and operational excellence.

The candidate for this exciting opportunity will need to be living in the San Antonio, Texas or the Austin, Texas or the Dallas, Texas areas. This role will require 1 to 2 days per month at the One Frost Corporate Campus office in San Antonio. Frost will help with relocation costs to move to Texas area if one is not currently living in those areas.

Who You Are

As a Software Engineer II at Frost, you are our code guru, not only configuring the systems but understanding the why's behind them. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, implementing, supporting, and documenting solutions for assigned applications across the organization. You welcome a challenge and want to provide next level experiences to every individual that uses our systems.

What You'll Do

• Design, write, test, implement, and document solutions for assigned program modules
• Collaborate with project teams and other Software Engineers to provide technical support
• Support assigned IT systems/applications by troubleshooting and resolving defects

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, in a related field, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently identify program issues and develop the appropriate solution, typically requiring at least 2 years of experience
• Strong software engineering experience, including the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable applications.
• Strong programming experience using Python and/or Java, including API development, microservices architecture, testing, debugging, code reviews, and implementation of best coding practices.
• Strong data engineering experience, including SQL development, data pipeline design, data quality management, and integration of data across multiple systems and platforms.
• Strong experience with cloud technologies and application deployment, including cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, monitoring, production support, and operational excellence

Additional Preferred Skills

• Preferred experience leveraging AI-powered development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to accelerate software development activities including coding, unit testing, documentation, debugging, and code reviews. Demonstrated ability to validate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, performance, and maintainability
• Strong understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming
• Strong collaboration experience with a proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code, participate in technical reviews, uphold engineering standards, and support team growth through mentoring and constructive feedback
