Job summary

Frost in Austin, TX is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, implement, and document solutions for key applications across the organization. You’ll collaborate with project teams and fellow engineers to deliver reliable, scalable software and to continually improve IT systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) and 2+ years of hands-on development with Python and/or Java, API design, and data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, in a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently identify program issues and develop the appropriate solution, typically requiring at least 2 years of experience.
• Strong software engineering experience, including the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable applications.
• Strong programming experience using Python and/or Java, including API development, microservices architecture, testing, debugging, code reviews, and implementation of best coding practices.
• Strong data engineering experience, including SQL development, data pipeline design, data quality management, and integration of data across multiple systems and platforms.
• Strong experience with cloud technologies and application deployment, including cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, monitoring, production support, and operational excellence.

Additional Preferred Skills:

• Preferred experience leveraging AI-powered development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to accelerate software development activities including coding, unit testing, documentation, debugging, and code reviews. Demonstrated ability to validate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, performance, and maintainability
• Strong understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming
• Strong collaboration experience with a proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code, participate in technical reviews, uphold engineering standards, and support team growth through mentoring and constructive feedback
