Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX seeks an entry‑level Software Engineer I to contribute to EO/IR programs within the APS unit. You will develop software in C++ on Linux, participate in integration and testing, and support flight‑critical aerospace projects in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• Experience in C++ programming and familiarity with object‑oriented design principles.
• Experience working with Linux operating systems, including shell scripting and command‑line tools.
• Experience working effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and user manuals.
• Work onsite at McKinney, TX
• Support Formal Qualification Test events
• Conduct unit testing and software integration testing to verify functionality and compliance with system requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality solutions.
• Adhere to industry best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines specific to aerospace and defense applications.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring adherence to program standards.
• Able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
