Software Developer Location: Sterling Heights, MI Employment Type: Contract Pay Range: $45-$47/hour

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Software Developer to join a team responsible for developing and supporting embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture and design, coding, testing, integration, debugging, and software releases. This position is 100% onsite due to the nature of the work.

What You Will Do

Develop software documentation and code across vehicle domains such as board support, cybersecurity, displays, or downloading. Perform software requirements analysis. Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved design tools and standards. Develop software code in accordance with established department standards and procedures. Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software. Perform hardware/software integration. Debug software issues identified throughout multiple testing phases. Provide development task status updates to software project leads. Contribute to software releases involving multiple developers. Interface with other departments and business units, including Systems Engineering and Software Quality. Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies. Support continuous improvement processes and methodologies. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Table

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 1-4 years of experience in a related software development role.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, and/or Bitbucket.
• Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C#, C++, C, Python, or Qt.
• Experience working with mixed operating system environments such as VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, and GVOS.
• Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
• Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
• Experience with Agile processes and tools.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.

• Previous experience working in the defense industry.
• Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture.
• Familiarity with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, or FACE.
• Familiarity with Type 1/2 hypervisors.
